Classic design re-emerges in a new interpretation with modern materials
Architect Mogens Koch (1898-1992) was trained as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1925. In the period until 1932, he worked as an assistant to architect and furniture designer Kaare Klint. Mogens Koch also worked with many of the great architects of the time, until he opened his own design studio in 1934. Mogens Koch is best known for his classically elegant and functionalist furniture series, such as the shelving and folding furniture series. In the years 1950 – 1968, Mogens Koch was employed as a professor of restoration at the Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture.
Mogens Koch drew a large number of patterns, which his wife, the weaver Ea Koch (1905-1987), wove the most beautiful carpets from. Embroidery patterns were also drawn for Handicraft Promotion and the watercolor pad was also extensively used for sketches. These patterns form the basis of Skriver Collection's collection.
